OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION
East Shore Congregational Meeting
Sunday, March 5, at 11:00 am

Dear East Shore Member,

You are invited to East Shore’s Congregational Meeting on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary. A worship service at 10:00 am precedes this meeting. Childcare for children ten and younger will be available during our meeting.  The Operating Fund Pancake Breakfast will immediately follow our short meeting.

Your participation is important. This Congregational Meeting will be voting on our new mission statement. These mission statements represent the work and collaboration of many people over the past several weeks.  This work culminated in the All Church Summit February 3-5.  On February 5th, we reviewed seven proposed mission statements.  There are now two top choices from which to choose.  As a free, liberal, religious community, we, the members, own the church. We have the responsibility and privilege of living our values. We elect our leaders and adopt our budget. We discuss and influence our policies and the direction of East Shore. At this meeting, we will be adopting an updated Mission Statement that will guide all our teams, ministries, and operations. Our Bylaws mandate a quorum of 10% of the membership (49 people) in order to conduct business. The mission statements we will be voting between are:

•         We practice love, explore spirituality, build community, and promote justice.
•         We search for truth, justice, and spiritual growth, acting on our shared beliefs and values to protect the earth and all life it supports.

Agenda
•         Welcome from the President
•         Proposed Mission Statements
o   Discussion and vote
•         Adjourn

Following our congregational meeting, appropriate communications will go out to our membership. Appropriate action items will be assigned to the Board and / or the relevant staff and member teams.  We will organize a Vision Team to collaborate on a vision that will elaborate upon and provide deeper meaning to the mission we’ve chosen.  The Vision Team will work to incorporate all of the work and ideas generated in the All Church Summary.  We will vote to adopt this vision in our Annual Meeting in June.  If you are interested in participating on the Vision Team, please reach out to me, Jack Slowriver at [email protected].

Warmly,
Jack Slowriver
President, Board of Trustees
