Bob Kechley has been music director at East Shore since 1997, when he took over from his father, Gerald, who held the reins since 1958! Bob has created a music program centered on diversity and relevance to worship and he strives to integrate music with other elements in the Sunday service.
The program includes choir, hymn sings, music reading classes, and special evening programs, giving our church community an opportunity to participate, whether sharing their exceptional talent or stepping out of their comfort zone and getting a little spiritual growth to boot.
The choir meets Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:00 from September to mid-June and typically presents music at Sunday services twice a month. There is no audition required, and the emphasis is first and foremost about community. The music’s high standard is achieved through hard but rewarding work which builds a strong bond between members. Special services featuring extra music are presented in December and April each year. For Sundays when the choir takes a well-deserved break, we are blessed with a wonderful array of talented volunteers.
