Pre Sale for Friends and Family of ESUU Thurs 8/24, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
This will be the fifth year the Khasi Hills Partner Church ministry team has been putting together this important fundraiser with the help of so many church members, both in donating items and volunteering at the event. The funds raised from this event goes to support the Friendship School which we, in partnership with the Kharang Unitarian church, created nine years ago. This small school provides the only option for families in this remote village to have their children taught at an English medium school. The ability to read, write, and speak English is the student’s ticket to higher education in the Indian school system. The Funds raised goes directly toward covering the minimal salaries of the 5-6 teachers at the school.
How can you help?
- Clean out your closets, garage, storage sheds and donate to the sale. We take: clothes, household items, books, toys, tools, sporting gear, any item that might sell. What we don’t take: broken or dirty items, tires, obsolete electronics (we have to pay to dispose of them which reduces our profits) We can’t accept large furniture or other large items but we will have a display board where pictures and descriptions of large items can be posted to attract potential buyers. Donations can be brought to Room 202 in the RE building starting August 8th during regular church hours.
- Volunteer to Help – It’s Fun!! We need people to help sort, organize, price and display the wonders that we receive. We will start this process Thursday 8/17 and continue through 8/24. We work in groups of 3-6 people sorting through the fun treasures and bring order to chaos. Click here to sign up for a shift or two. We also need lots of people to help during the sale Friday and Saturday as cashiers and room monitors.
- Donations of plastic and paper bags to use for bagging up people’s purchases. These can also be dropped off in Room 202.
