Dear Friends,
As I write this, I am with a group of UU kids and teens who are in the midst of the East Shore summer camp. We’ve been learning about the connections between creativity and art, skill sharing and community. I am overwhelmed by their excitement about the future of our faith and their deep love for the type of community our congregations foster. Their exuberance is catching, and now I can’t wait to start up in the fall at ESUC with all of you. I’m looking forward to this year, not only because it is the beginning of my fifth year as Director but because of all the fun things and deep spiritual exploration ahead of us.
We know September is the end of summer and the start of a new school year. With all of the supply shopping, new shoe fitting, nervous first days and getting back into early morning routines, it can be a busy time and time of transition for many families. Here at ESUC, it’s also the start up of our liturgical year with the September 14 Water Communion Service and In-Gathering Potluck. Bring a little bit of water from your home, a place that is special or sacred to you, and you’ll get to take some home with you.
Sunday School classes begin the following week on September 21. We welcome all families to join in our Religious Education activities. Our Religious Education programming is only possible when we have lots of participation from parents and caregivers! We need Sunday school registration forms filled out each year. Please make sure to update us about allergies, medications or other special considerations. Registration is done online.
Sign up to Volunteer! We always need teachers for classes, volunteers for childcare, Our Whole Lives, Coming of Age, the fall Trunk or Treat, and the Winter Pageant. We will also continue spiritual discussion groups and groups for parents and families. We want all of our families to be able to participate in community life and sign up for at least one volunteer opportunity.
