Changes to the Board

Dec 19, 2025 | Beacon, Exclusively For Members

Dear Beloved East Shore Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that I am stepping down as your Board of Trustees President on January 1, 2026. As many of you know, I recently started work at a firm headquartered on the East Coast. What you would not have known is that a condition of my employment is that I must work from one of my employer’s satellite offices, and so I will be moving to the Boston area on January 1 for the next few years.

I have much to say about my experience over the past 3.5 years on the Board, and I will share it in due time. For now, let me just say that it has been one of the great honors and privileges of my life to be a servant leader in this beautiful, beloved community and to work with so many dedicated, loving, and excellent leaders—both lay and professional—over this time. I am filled with so much gratitude for all of your support through the tough times, the joyful times, and all the times in between.

Speaking of joy, I have the great pleasure of telling you that Amanda Strombom, our current Vice President, has let the Board know that she is ready and willing to step up to become the interim President from January 1 until we elect a new Board in June. I doubt I have to tell you what a dedicated, creative, and courageous leader Amanda is, and I know she will be an excellent President.

In closing, let me share that I will remain a member of East Shore and that I consider this to be my forever church home. I will support the work of the church and participate whenever I can. Lastly, Marcy and I will be keeping our house in Preston, where she will be based, and I will be traveling back to the area frequently, with the plan to relocate back when the time is right.

With great love and gratitude,
David Langrock
President, East Shore Unitarian Church
