Women's Perspective

We began in 1989 as East Shore’s “quiltless” quilting bee— a group of women who gathered together to talk about issues that were important. Now, we welcome all those who identify as women to gather for walks, movie nights, potlucks, crafting and more. We take on projects of significance and have an annual retreat.

Mission Statement

The mission of Women’s Perspective is to build community for persons who identify as women, through opportunities which enhance mutual support, personal growth, and spiritual enrichment. We strive to use our combined vision and strength to promote human dignity, environmental sustainability, and world peace.

Our History

We began in 1989 as East Shore’s ‘quilt-less’ quilting bee, meaning a group of women who gathered together to discuss issues that were important.  A few years later, we joined the national UU Women’s Federation.

In 2010, we added Women-Helping-Women as our Social Justice ‘arm.’   We have supported projects helping women and girls both globally and locally, as we did, for example, when we prepared post-abortion care kits for women who may need help, when we, pre-pandemic, cooked together monthly in the North Room to provide 60 meals for Sophia Way, and when we continue to coordinate other efforts for Sophia Way, such as September’s Share-the-Plate offering and breakfast items drive.

Today, we continue to gather monthly for walks, movie nights, potlucks, crafting and more, including our annual Women’s Retreat at the Rainbow Lodge in North Bend, favored by many!

Women Helping Women

For years our group has worked to help women in our area through Sophia Way.

We have regular collections of items needed and a group of Women’s Perspective members has been providing meals to the shelter on a monthly basis.

For a list of what the women need at the shelters, click here. You can also donate items through Amazon.

You can drop off items at the Donation Center in Bellevue. Contact Megan Duncan for details.  The Center is usually open from noon to 2:00 on Wednesdays.
