East Shore Acts to Combat Local Racism

Aug 30, 2020 | Justice, Racial

Recently, East Shore joined more than 125 local and national groups in exposing and condemning a local non-profit group formed just this year, Alliance for Persecuted Peoples Worldwide (APPWW), that masquerades as a human rights group even as their leaders have promoted hate, Islamophobia and racism. You can review the statement, with the supporting documentation.

The actions of APPWW and its leaders are particularly concerning since the group has sought (but failed to receive) funding and support from the City of Redmond, and the Redmond Council President has participated in one of their events.

Individuals can also sign on to condemn the hate, racism and Islamophobia promulgated by APPWW and its leaders here. For additional action in Redmond, see the alert here.

We appreciate Aneelah Afzali, Executive Director of MAPS-AMEN (American Muslim Empowerment Network), for bringing this to our attention and allowing us to take a stand against hate in our community.
