East Shore Unitarian Church and Camp Kindness Counts invite you to full day, in-person Summer Camp: June 27-July 1, 2022!
We believe in each person’s voice and vision!
You are never too young to make a difference!
East Shore Unitarian Church teaches the wisdom of world religions and helps kids to create justice and peace in the world.
Camp Kindness Counts believes in the power of kindness to build a happier healthier world.
And together, we imagine a world of empowered kids bringing their voices and visions for the greater good of our world!
This year our theme is focused on art, justice, and the power of imagination. Adapting from a number of resources, including the Learning for Justice curriculum “Art and Activism”, children will practice their own artistic expression, learn more about cultures and artistic influences, and how art can help us make positive social change! We will also incorporate Camp Kindness Counts’ character development curriculum “Kind World Explorers”. Children will learn how to strengthen their skills of compassion and gratitude to make a difference in the world!
With East Shore Unitarians partnership with multicultural communities, we will be learning about how art shows up in the world and is used to tell stories for liberation and peace. With Camp Kindness Counts partnership through UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, we will be practicing different character strengths throughout the week and sharing character-building resources with parents!
Throughout our week we:
Our schedule for 2022 will be finalized in early June and emailed to all registered families.
6th-12th grade youth counselors can expect to lead small groups of kids in activities throughout the date. Each camp counselor will be trained the week prior to camp and given the opportunity to stay late on paint days to make sure the youth have their own time to bond and have fun! Being a volunteer counselor is a great way to gain leadership skills and impact kids and the community.
Registration for camp 2022 opens Friday March 11 and closes on Friday June 10. Register Here!
We believe strongly that it should be available to all children who would like to participate. If the cost of camp presents a barrier to participation for your family, please contact us about full or partial scholarships.
**There will be a mandatory two-hour evening training for all youth counselors at East Shore Unitarian Church on Monday June 13th from 6-8pm
