Earth & Climate Action Ministry (ECAM) and the Indigenous Connections Team invite you to a two-part discussion of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s new book, The Serviceberry. You may remember Reva Maria Cristina referred to this book during her sermon on November 24.

Kimmerer takes the wisdom of Braiding Sweetgrass a step further and asks how we can reimagine our economic systems by incorporating a philosophy of abundance, reciprocity, and balance. “Through a blend of storytelling and careful scientific observation, Kimmerer makes a powerful case for gift economies as an alternative to our market-driven society.” (Sam Illingworth)

The Serviceberry is an invitation to shift our thinking: What does it mean to live in a gift economy? How can indigenous wisdom and ecological systems inform us?

How to Attend

Please join us on February 11 and 18 from 7-8:30pm on Zoom

More Information

The Serviceberry (105 pages) is available at local libraries and bookstores.

Transportation & Parking
Google Maps offers you door-to-door directions for driving, walking, biking, or public transit.

We have several parking lots. Our upper lot, off SE 32nd Street, is closest to our Sanctuary, it has handicap and stroller parking. There is a roundabout for drop-offs. Our lower, main parking lot is also off SE 32nd Street. There are stairs that will lead you up to the Sanctuary. If that lot is full, there is also street parking on 32nd Street.
