Meaningful Movies Bellevue: Ultimate Citizens

Join Meaningful Movies Bellevue for a screening of the 2024 film, Ultimate Citizens, from Bullfrog Films. The film is about Jamshid Khajavi, a charismatic primary school counselor right here in Seattle, who offers a vision of a welcoming America for all. At a time in our country when schools are often at the frontline of America’s culture wars, Mr. Khajavi continues to teach about topics such as emotional learning and sex education in a supportive environment. Much of his best work is, however, accomplished as a coach when he uses the game of Ultimate Frisbee to build a community of children, many of whom are the children of refugees and immigrants. As he coaches the sport, the team players heal from their struggles and isolation so they can compete in the world’s largest youth tournament. Ultimate Citizens is a celebration of resilience and belonging as children learn to include rather than exclude, to help each other as they find their way forward together. Please join us immediately after the film for an inspiring Q&A session.
