In last month’s Beacon (June, 2021), we shared a bit about the Totem Pole Journey initiated by the Lummi House of Tears Carvers. This is the 20th anniversary of the Totem Pole journey in the spirit of healing, honor, hospitality, respect and protection.
As the organizers point out, “the totem pole isn’t what is Sacred. It’s the gathering of the people around the Pole–that is what is Sacred”. In that spirit, we invite you to share (in person) in a sacred moment just before the Red Road to DC Totem Pole Journey undertakes their national tour.
On Sunday, July 11th, from 3:00 to 5:00, East Shore welcomes the Totem Pole Journey to our site. Please come and bless the Totem Pole with your friends and family. Listen to, learn from and speak with the Totem Pole Journey team as they set out for their national tour. This is an event for the whole family! All masking and distancing requirements at that time will be expected.
All are welcome to this event. Please note, masks are required inside buildings.
