This event was originally scheduled for November 20, but was moved due to power outages. We hope you can join us!
Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an international annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), is the hardest day of the year for trans people and their communities. That is why we gather as a community to honor the lives of transgender people whose lives were taken too soon. We might not have known the individuals who were murdered or took their lives, but we know that these deaths were not their fault, they deserved to live.
The vigil will include prayers, contemplative music, lighting candles, and reading the names of those lost this year.
“Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people — sometimes in the most brutal ways possible — it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.”
– Transgender Day of Remembrance founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith.
We encourage masks in all buildings. Read more about our In Person Guidelines here.
