From the Minister: Going Forward with Gusto

This fall begins our second year together. I have spent the past twelve months trying to learn people’s names, the church organizational structure and the customary patterns of behavior here and to familiarize myself with the individuals who could be enlisted to help my Developmental Ministry go forward with gusto. Let’s get started!

The first thing to keep in mind is Totally Terrific Tuesdays (also known as Community Church Night, see here): the idea that we’ll be synchronizing many of our meetings and classes such that every Tuesday lots is going on. Afternoon events can wrap up by 5:00 pm and evening events will begin at about 7:00 pm. In the meantime we’ll have potluck dinner every Tuesday at about 5:30 pm. There will also be a rotating schedule of social activities to really take time to enjoy one another. On September 3 we’ll kick off with meditation led by the Science of Spirituality group. On other September Tuesdays: the 10th: Director of Music Eric Lane Barnes will lead a sing along, with the theme being Showtunes, the 17th: our fun and energetic Membership Development Manager Nicole Duff will bring some of her favorite board games for a game night. I hear she is ready to play 80s Trivial Pursuit, and the 24th: the premiere of Meaningful Movies of Bellevue, now at East Shore. Their first film will be Princess Angeline, about the eldest daughter of Chief Seattle.
