General Assembly 2022 Update

Jul 1, 2022 | Beacon, News

From June 22-26, UUs from across the country arrived in Portland or logged in online for General Assembly. This inspirational weekend was full of workshops, worship services, and business that has impacts on the larger UU world.

I encourage you to go to www.uua.org/ga/off-site/2022 to watch videos of some of the General Sessions and the worship videos.

During the Service of the Living Tradition, our own amanda alice uluhan crossed the stage after completing her Credentialing for Religious Education. That service also lived up Rev. Charles Reinhart, who served at East Shore from 1967-1975. Rev. Reinhart passed away in August 2021.

Some great workshops included “Implementing the 8th Principle” and “Uncovering and Understanding Patriarchal Power in Your Congregation.”

There were also booths set up to learn more about some of the organizations including the UU Association of Membership Professionals (UUAMP) of which I am currently serving as Vice President, the UU Convocation of Women (thank you Geri Kennedy for representing), and other UU groups and shops.

East Shore was able to send seven Delegates who voted in the General Session Meetings. Thank you to those who served in this capacity.

Next year, we look forward to going to Pittsburgh, PA for the next General Assembly!
