Middle School Youth Group
Please register for RE (religious education) programs. Once you’re thinking you’ll continue attending programs at East Shore, usually after three visits, we ask that you register.
Winter/Spring 2020 Ages 10-14 (grades 5-8) meet in E-205 for an ongoing program about life skills, using the “Big Life Journal.” Introducing a new curriculum program that will be led by two volunteer RE parents. Much of the focus will be on how to work through challenges and build self esteem, especially in communities of peers.
OWL Programs for Middle School age youth:
Ages 12-14/Grades 7-8: A sexuality education program for youth that models and teaches caring, compassion, respect, and justice. A holistic program that moves beyond the intellect to address the attitudes, values, and feelings that youth have about themselves and the world.
- September 2019-May 2020
- 25 90-minute workshops
Ages 10-12/Grades 5-6: This program helps participants learn about and discuss the physical and emotional changes of puberty. The program offers accurate, unbiased information on human sexuality to preteens who need it to make responsible decisions and stay healthy.
- September-December 2019
- 12 60-minute workshops
Middle school Conference
September 27-29, 2019. Con is open to all 6th, 7th, or 8th grade youth active in a UU congregation. It is held on Vashon Island, at Camp Sealth. There’s a ton of fun camp-like activities as well as lots of UU activities about our values and faith. Arrival is early evening on Friday, and it ends about 2 PM on Sunday. The cost this year will be $150 early bird/$175 regular registration. Please let me know if you want to connect about scholarship opportunities to help with costs!
