Our beautiful Sanctuary has hosted so many important events in my life, from Weddings to Memorial Services. When my husband suddenly died, I was amazed at the help my family and I received. It made the Memorial Service all the more meaningful.
We are re-establishing the Reception Committee. We hope to have enough people agree to be occasionally willing and able to help with receptions so that it won’t be a hardship on any one person. We are looking for people in three roles:
Reception Organizer who would be the main point of contact for the reception. They would recruit help and speak with the family.
Reception Assistants would help on the day of. No planning needed, just a willingness to make a nice space for people and help clean up.
Bakers would make baked goods (gluten free and vegan treats as well) so there is a loving, homemade touch we can offer our families. This could also be a fruit salad or other food item. Food could be dropped off the day before.
These are times of such importance in people’s lives, and having church members there to help means a great deal. In some ways, it’s a major reason for the church community.
