May 22-26
Greetings from Doug and Amanda Strombom, your Co-deans for the upcoming Seabeck Memorial Day Weekend 2026!
We’d like you to put these dates into your calendar: May 22-26, 2026. That’s when we hope you will join us for what is probably the most amazing community-building, wonder-filled, and restorative weekend of the year for East Shore UUs. That’s when we will gather at the beautiful, quiet Seabeck facility along the shore of the Hood Canal and soak in the abundance of nature and the grandeur of the Olympic Mountains. Together as a community, we will create a weekend gathering with intriguing workshops, fun activities and stimulating programs both for children and adults.
This year we will be celebrating the 50th year of Seabeck Memorial Day Weekend, and our founder and longest-attending member, Gayle Knoepfler, will be sponsoring a special ice cream extravaganza to mark the occasion.
We are ultra-excited to announce our guest presenter for the main programs on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Bowen Lee is a professional storyteller who has been on stage for national, international, and regional events. She was a public school teacher for 35 years and her teaching is highly creative. Learning with her is fun as she weaves story, art, and information together to engage, encourage, and deepen the learning experience.
“There is a power in story. More often than not, stories can transform people. Stories give people a hook to anchor themselves to something new and make it their own by reflection, connection, insight.” – Bowen Lyam Lee
Bowen will lead us in the art of immersive storytelling, and explore how to dig deep to tell fascinating and engaging stories. Bowen also plans to lead a workshop for sharing narrative songs.
We strive to make this retreat as inclusive and affordable for all families to enjoy together, so if you are interested in attending, please speak with us or with Nicole Duff.
Hint: It is best to sign up for Seabeck soon after registration opens on Friday, February 20th. Make this the year that you attend Seabeck Memorial Day Weekend… otherwise you’ll never know what you’re missing.
Hope to see you at Seabeck!
