The Snoqualmie Tribe, our Coast Salish neighbors, is suffering because of local helicopter entrepreneurs that intrude on their spiritual practices at Snoqualmie Falls. The Tribe has appealed to the three companies involved to stop their flights and also to the FAA for assistance in keeping their sacred site free of intrusion during sacred rites. Yet, the problem continues.
Here is a link to a Crosscut story that explains the situation in greater detail here. In dealing with the intrusion, the Tribe has been asked to direct the concerned public to file complaints with the FAA. When I contacted the Tribe, they directed me to do so.
As a member of East Shore and an advocate of our Eighth Principle, I ask that you each do just that: file a complaint with the FAA after reading the Crosscut story. Here is a link to contact the Seattle office of the FAA where you can leave a complaint: Send an Email (faa.gov)
I also invite you to attend our Indigenous Connection team zoom meetings- we are a sub-group of the Eighth Principle Ministry Team. Our meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm. The link to attend is here.
Thank you for your thought and care in standing with the Snoqualmie Tribe, Coast Salish Native American peoples from the Snoqualmie Valley in east King and Snohomish Counties. For more information, please take a look at their website.
