Trinkets & Treasures: Making the Most Out of Quarantine

Now that most all of you are hunkered down at home and MAYBE have some spare time that you’re wondering what to do with, why not dig into closets, drawers, boxes, etc. to see what items you might want to set aside for our annual fund-raising event for teachers’ salaries in the Friendship School in Kharang? The Trinkets & Treasures Sale is on the church calendar ~ at this point ~ for the week of August 23-29, 2020

Everything you donate for T&T sale needs to be in good condition and clean, so add a few items at a time to your washing machine loads. We need usable clothing for all ages, sizes, and shapes, plus usable house wares (sheets, towels, dishes), sports equipment, toys, games, art, working tech equipment, gardening tools, books, jewelry, special items and more. The first drop-off day at church is Sunday, August 2. For earlier drop-off, please contact Barb Clagett at [email protected]. She has a storage shed on their property in Sammamish.

To run the sale, we also need empty paper grocery bags and boxes, all in good shape. (You may be collecting quite a good supply of those in these days when we’re not to use our own cloth bags at the grocery store!)

Finally, we need clean but worn/torn/stained textile items, such as clothing, sheets, towels, bedspreads, leather shoes, belts, and purses. Please put these aside (after they’re washing or wiped) in those big black garbage bags that tie up.

We thank you for your generosity and want you to know that our Khasi friends are in constant contact with us via What’s App. Right now they are doing well. The school is closed for now, but the teachers certainly need their salaries to survive!
