Ways to Help with Membership

“The welcoming church is more of an attitude or disposition. It represents the mindset of an outward focus rather than an inward focus. It is about serving rather than being served.” from Becoming a Welcoming Church by Thom S. Rainer

Growth… it’s important and we want to grow as a church. The best way to do that is to be welcoming and wonderful to visitors who show up at our door or zoom room! We would love to grow our amazing team as we are growing into the future of multiplatform services. So, how can you help?

This is a new position. I’m looking for… well…ME! While at home, I’ve been doing the announcements and talking to visitors via chat. I welcome them to the service and let them know I’m here to help answer questions. I stay in virtual coffee hour for those who want to talk in person. As we return to multi-platform I need to change my Sundays to include coffee hour and am looking for some help. I may be good, but I’m not be in two places at once good! This is perfect for someone comfortable with Zoom and maybe not as comfortable being in person. I will give training on this to help you get up to speed.

Help with Coffee Hour

This is a short-term commitment (hopefully) just until we begin our multiplatform services. On Sundays with RE, we put out some coffee and snacks for our parents, giving them an opportunity for socialization. I’ve made it easy and it should only take about 15 minutes to set up and 15 to clean up… the rest of the time you can socialize or find a quiet place to spend time alone. These volunteers must be vaccinated as they will be around food and will likely be around children. You can volunteer to this now! As we begin multiplatform services and return to the church there will be a whole new way to help with coffee hour, so stay tuned!

Join Our Team In Person

Our In Person team is wonderful! They welcome people as they come in the door and help them navigate East Shore. They set them up with a nametag and ask if they want to sign up for newsletters. They help direct children to RE and let them know about coffee hour. This is the perfect job for those who are outgoing and want to give a great first impression of East Shore. While it won’t start until we are doing multiplatform services, I’m looking for people to be ready and eager for that date.

It will take ALL of us to be a welcoming, beloved community, and for those who want to be the smiling face to greet visitors, let me know!
