We excited to announce two teenage youth have joined our membership book. Francis Sherley and Amélie Heise, both long time participants in our Religious Education programs have officially signed the membership book and can now be welcomed as members of East Shore! After attending professional development programs focusing on issues of membership and youth-young adult membership retention, as well as hearing from the engaged, lifelong-UU youth their dismay at not “already being members,” staff came to realize the need to formally integrate membership processes into our programming and to extend the invitation to membership to kids who have completed Coming of Age program or are 16 years of age or older, as directed by our congregation bylaws. We are excited the Francis and Amelie have been welcomed into the East Shore community in this way. They have full benefits of membership, including voting, which they are most excited about! Welcome!
