This class utilizes economic thinking to illuminate a wide range of topics not typically understood to be economic in nature-from how we choose a mate to why we vote the way we do. If you’ve read any of the Freakonomics books or listened to the Freakonomics podcast then you will be familiar with the sorts of topics covered in this class such as Marriage as a Search Market, Terrorism as an Occupational Choice, Small Choices and Racial Discrimination, and Obesity – Who Bears the Costs? Fourth Wednesday Book Club: No Two Persons

Please join us to discuss No Two Persons by Erica Bauermeister. Alice has always wanted to be a writer. Her talent is innate, but her stories remain safe and detached, until a devastating event breaks her heart open, and she creates a stunning debut novel. Her words, in turn, find their way to readers, from a teenager hiding her homelessness, to a free diver pushing himself beyond endurance, an artist furious at the world around her, a bookseller in search of love, a widower rent by grief. Each one is drawn into Alice’s novel; each one discovers something different that alters their perspective, and presents new pathways forward for their lives. Together, their stories reveal how books can affect us in the most beautiful and unexpected of ways―and how we are all more closely connected to one another than we might think.

Young Unitarian Universalist Project is a safe and encouraging place for high school students to meet, engage with their values, and contribute to the ESUC vision and mission of an awesome and inclusive community. At this time in their lives, youth have the need to form community, explore their values, and deepen their engagement. YUUP rotates programming between games, snacks, field trips and youth conferences in the region. We encourage and support youth to lead, plan, and invite their friends to join!

Kids’ Night In

Grown-ups of children ages 1 year old through high school are invited to drop youngsters off for an evening of creative fun while they enjoy some well-deserved time off. Programming for kids of all ages will include safe, age-appropriate activities. A healthy dinner will be provided, but please do let us know if you have any allergies.

YES-UU Jr. High Youth are…exploring their spirituality and community!
Junior high youth ages 12-14 are invited to join the Youth Exploring Spirituality Youth Group! Youth programs include a variety of curricula to develop a great sense of self and connect with your values in service to yourself and the greater good. Jr. High youth typically participate in Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education and Coming of Age youth development programs. Following Coming of Age, youth are encouraged to become members of ESUC.
