Your Eighth Principle and Right Relations Teams, with an endorsement from the Rev. Dr. María Cristina, is hosting a discussion of the UUA common read for 2023-24, On Repentance and Repair: Making Amends in an Unapologetic World, by Danya Ruttenberg.

This fascinating and insightful book shows a way to heal relationships in a down-to-earth, practical and accessible way based on the teachings of 12th century Jewish scholar, Maimonides. “American culture focuses on letting go of grudges and redemption narratives instead of the perpetrator’s obligations to or recompense for harmed parties. As survivor communities have pointed out, these emphases have too often caused more harm.”

Focusing on a “how-to” for perpetrators rather than asking for the work to be done by the victim, you will come away with a transformed view of relationship mending. As we none of us are perfect humans that never make mistakes, all of us need to read this as a step toward Beloved Community.

How to Attend

Starting Tuesday, November 7, at 7:00 pm, our moderators will guide you through the self-exploration outlined in a five-step process in a series of workshops on weekly Tuesday evening zoom meetings until December 5 (December 12 if needed).

Transportation & Parking
Google Maps offers you door-to-door directions for driving, walking, biking, or public transit.

We have several parking lots. Our upper lot, off SE 32nd Street, is closest to our Sanctuary, it has handicap and stroller parking. There is a roundabout for drop-offs. Our lower, main parking lot is also off SE 32nd Street. There are stairs that will lead you up to the Sanctuary. If that lot is full, there is also street parking on 32nd Street.
