Join together at East Shore Unitarian Church on September 12 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with Lummi members of the House of Tears Carvers. These carvers will bring an honor pole dedicated to beloved Chief Tsilixw (Bill James), hereditary chief of the Lhaq’temish (Lummi) people. They will lead a blessing event and talk about their work with other Indigenous Nations and allies at the Clean Energy Justice Convergence in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, September 21 – 23.

How to Attend

You are welcome to attend at any time during this family-friendly event, especially for the official blessing ceremony that starts at 6:00 PM.

More Information

The goal of this journey is to bring inspiration, media attention, and a call to action during the Energy Convergence, hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy. The journey is dedicated to communities in Appalachia and around the world who are on the front lines of fossil fuel-based energy extraction and environmental devastation, and to the growing movement of Earth, Sky and Water Protectors working to advance truly clean energy solutions and hasten a just transition away from fossil fuels and false solutions.

Come and learn more about this amazing pole and also about actions you can take to support Lummi members and their work to protect our earth, sky, and water. For more information about the House of Carvers, visit https://www.lhaqtemish.org/the-service/house-of-tears-carvers

Transportation & Parking
Google Maps offers you door-to-door directions for driving, walking, biking, or public transit.

We have several parking lots. Our upper lot, off SE 32nd Street, is closest to our Sanctuary, it has handicap and stroller parking. There is a roundabout for drop-offs. Our lower, main parking lot is also off SE 32nd Street. There are stairs that will lead you up to the Sanctuary. If that lot is full, there is also street parking on 32nd Street.
