This class utilizes economic thinking to illuminate a wide range of topics not typically understood to be economic in nature-from how we choose a mate to why we vote the way we do. If you’ve read any of the Freakonomics books or listened to the Freakonomics podcast then you will be familiar with the sorts of topics covered in this class such as Marriage as a Search Market, Terrorism as an Occupational Choice, Small Choices and Racial Discrimination, and Obesity – Who Bears the Costs? Meaningful Movies: Living the Change

Please join us for our free screening of Living the Change, a feature-length documentary that explores solutions to global crises we face today. Inspiring stories of people pioneering change in their own lives and their communities show us how we can all live sustainably and in a regenerative way. Directors Jordan Osmond and Antoinette Wilson weave stories from their travels together with interviews that showcase experts explaining how we came to be where we are today. From forest gardens to composting toilets, community supported agriculture to timebanking, Living the Change offers ways for each of us to rethink our approach to how we live.

YES-UU Jr. High Youth are…exploring their spirituality and community!
Junior high youth ages 12-14 are invited to join the Youth Exploring Spirituality Youth Group! Youth programs include a variety of curricula to develop a great sense of self and connect with your values in service to yourself and the greater good. Jr. High youth typically participate in Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education and Coming of Age youth development programs. Following Coming of Age, youth are encouraged to become members of ESUC.

Young Unitarian Universalist Project is a safe and encouraging place for high school students to meet, engage with their values, and contribute to the ESUC vision and mission of an awesome and inclusive community. At this time in their lives, youth have the need to form community, explore their values, and deepen their engagement. YUUP rotates programming between games, snacks, field trips and youth conferences in the region. We encourage and support youth to lead, plan, and invite their friends to join!

Kids Night In: Glow Party

Long-time ESUC member Leta Hamilton and her family will host a fun, dance-filled GLOW PARTY for kids in Spring Hall! Parents can drop off their 6-17 year-olds any time between the beginning of the party at 6:15pm and the end at 9pm. The dance party will begin around 7pm. Invite some friends! Non-members of ESUC are also welcome! This event will have plenty of room for any kids who want to come, and is priced at a flat rate.

Join us this Sunday, June 9th, for East Shore’s annual UU Children and Youth Bridging worship. It is an amazing ritual and worship for everyone in your family to join in on. It’s also a special Sunday to thank the adults leaders who guide and mentor children and youth each and every Sunday. We’ll be featuring voices from our community and counting the blessings and gratitude to one another among us. All are welcome!
