We’re including a gingerbread kit pick up, online parties the following Wednesday night on December 9th and in youth group sessions on the 11th.; a winter family photo booth; ornament and card decorating; treat bags; RE supplies; a chalice extinguishing recording booth; and pageant support!

East Shore Ruins… Christmas

As UUs, we all celebrate (or don’t celebrate) Christmas differently. Adam will show us how the idea of “Christ” in Christmas has a very different past. Using clips from “Adam Ruins Christmas” and a discussion of how we celebrate and ways to make the holiday a bit more UU (with tips from the amazing pageant Walter Andrews wrote). Special guest, LeAnne Struble. This is also a light way to introduce you all to this great series.

We’re pleased to present to you all a fun-filled morning reflecting on the various wisdom traditions who celebrate year after year since time immemorial during the dark of the year. This more traditional service will be held on Zoom with music from Eric Lane Barnes, stories for children of all ages from Amanda Uluhan, and a Christmas sermon from Rev. Stephen Furrer. Bring your own candles to join in a lighting. Come in your holiday best, or your PJs and celebrate this meaningful night together.

Christmas Eve Outdoor Candlelight Service

East Shore Unitarian Church 12700 SE 32nd Street, Bellevue, WA, United States

Our 4:00 Christmas Eve service will be an in-person, outside event. The church and grounds will be decorated for the holidays, and we will have seats, outdoor heaters and canopies set up in case there is rain. Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly (and to remain masked.) The East Shore Mighty Choir will sing several holiday songs, and the gathered congregation will sing a number of Christmas carols together. Reverend Furrer will preside with a holiday message, and Director of Music Eric Lane Barnes will lead us all in song. There will also be a surprise musical guest for the 4:00 service.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Our 7:00 Christmas Eve service will be online over Zoom. The sanctuary will be festooned with garland and candles, and Reverend Furrer will deliver his Christmas message from the sanctuary pulpit. Musical guests Brenda David and Paul Rosenberg together with Director of Music Eric Lane Barnes will sing holiday favorites in beautiful three-part harmony.

Thanksgiving Potluck

We come together this Sunday to affirm and give thanks for this community, our network of advocates around the world, the principles of our faith, and each other. After worship, we will celebrate a community Thanksgiving meal. Plan to stay and feast for the first time since 2019! East Shore will provide the turkey and vegan option. You are invited to bring your favorite sides and desserts to share.
