What brings us together as Unitarian Universalists? There are as many reasons as the individual people who make up our church communities. Most of us believe that together, we can transform ourselves and make this world a better place through the practice of love. In community, we are offered an opportunity to practice this love by embodying radical hospitality and theological diversity.
How do we understand and experience hope? Is it just wishful thinking? Environmental Justice activist Joanna Macy teaches us that Active Hope is something we do rather than have. It involves being clear about what we hope for and then playing our role in the process of moving in that direction. She calls this time The Great Turning and encourages us to make our contribution to it. In the process, we might discover new strengths, a wider network of allies, and experience a renewed sense of hope.
Join us as we hear from several women as we honor mothers. And on the cusp of the reported repudiation of a women's constitutional right to terminate a pregnancy, those who have chosen - for a time of maybe forever - to not be mothers.
We are delighted to be able, once again, to host a music service in our sanctuary. We will hold an interfaith vigil at East Shore Unitarian Church at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 30 for our soldiers, our murdered brethren, children, and against the culture of racism and gun violence. Join in person (masks required) or via Zoom.
And annual celebration from the earliest days of ESUC Sunday Services. Bring a flower to contribute to our thrown-together floral centerpiece—and take another contribution home. This will be Rev. Furrer’s last service leading services after forty-eight months as guardian and shepherd of the worship practices here at ESUC. June 12 is East Shore's annual Pride Day service. We will be featuring several musical guests as well as the East Shore Mighty Choir, who will be presenting a world premiere!
